FAQs
Find quick, clear answers to common questions about our classes, memberships, studios, and what to expect, so you can step onto your mat with confidence.
Do I need to sign up ahead of time?
Pre-registration is not required, but we recommend reserving your spot for busier class times (weekends and weekday afternoons). You can sign up on our website or through the Charlotte Yoga app. Walk-ins are welcome, space permitting.
How do I sign up for class?
You can reserve your spot directly on our website or by using the Charlotte Yoga app, available in the App Store and on Google Play.
How do I sign up for the Charlotte Yoga app?
Search Charlotte Yoga in the App Store or on Google Play. The app makes it easy to purchase and book classes on-the-go.
Are all of your classes heated?
Unless otherwise noted on the schedule, all classes are heated. CYStretch is a warm class kept around 80 degrees.
How hot is it?
We believe heat should complement your practice, not restrict it. Our studios are typically heated to around 90 degrees—warm, but not oppressively hot. Goldilocks would say, “It’s perfect!”
Do you have rental mats?
Yes. We offer mat and Yogitoes mat towel rentals for $5 each, or $8 for both.
Do you have showers?
Yes, both of our locations have full showers, amenities, and comfortable changing areas.
Do you offer assists in class?
This varies by teacher. Most classes offer optional hands-on assists to help support your practice and alignment. Teachers will explain how to opt out at the beginning of class. If you prefer not to receive assists, simply opt out – many people do.
How early do I need to arrive before class begins?
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to class start time so you’ll have time to sign in and get settled. That said, we know life happens, and you are welcome to practice even if you arrive late. The instructor will help you find a place in the room.
Where can I leave my belongings?
We have cubbies outside the studio for your belongings. Please, no shoes, cell phones, or personal items inside the studio. While we strive to provide a safe environment, Charlotte Yoga is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We highly recommend leaving valuables at home or locked in your car.
Where are you located?
We have two convenient South Charlotte locations:

1730 E. Woodlawn Rd., Suite E
Located behind Total Wine. Nearby neighbors include Massage Envy, Sushi 101, Kixx, and The Joint.

Is there a minimum age to practice?
The minimum age to attend class is 12. Anyone under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children under 12 are not permitted in class, and children may not wait in the lobby while a parent attends class.
I’m pregnant. What classes are good for me?
Please consult your doctor to determine whether yoga is appropriate during your pregnancy. Most pregnant clients enjoy our CYStretch, CYS*Flow, and CY26 classes.
How do I purchase a gift card or gift certificate?
Visit our online store to purchase a gift certificate that can be emailed to your recipient or printed at home. Physical gift cards are available for purchase in-person at either studio.
I’m brand new to yoga. What classes are best for me?
All of our classes are appropriate for all levels. If you’re a little hesitant to jump in, we recommend starting with CY101, CY26, CYS*Flow, or CYStretch. After a few sessions, you’ll pick it up pretty quickly and feel ready for all of our classes.
I have a pre-existing injury / illness / condition. Is hot yoga right for me?
Always consult your physician to determine whether strenuous exercise is appropriate for your body.
What should I wear?
Most people wear fitted, breathable clothing. You’ll be moving through a variety of positions, so choose clothing that keeps you covered without restricting movement. Most importantly, wear what makes you feel comfortable.
What do I need to bring?
Bring your yoga mat, mat towel or a large bath towel, and your water bottle.
We offer yoga mats and towels for rent and drinks for sale, including water and coconut water. We also have a filtered water fountain for refilling your bottle. Manduka yoga mats, Yogitoes mat towels, and a full selection of yoga apparel are available for purchase. Complimentary hand towels are provided in all classes.
Should I eat before class?
We recommend avoiding heavy meals before class. Drink plenty of water before and after your practice. Electrolytes are especially helpful for heated yoga. We sell water, electrolytes, and energy bars at the studio.

Charlotte residents who have never visited our studio are welcome to sign up for our New Client Special, which includes 30 days of unlimited yoga for $59 at both our ParkTowne Village and Carmel Commons studios.

What is your policy for late cancellations and no-shows?
To help us manage class spots fairly, cancellations within 4 hours of class time and no-shows are subject to a $20 charge.
What makes this training different from other studios’ teacher training programs?
Charlotte Yoga’s 200-hour Teacher Training is designed to create confident, well-rounded teachers and deeply informed practitioners. Our program balances strong, intelligent sequencing with anatomy, philosophy, cueing, hands-on assists, and real-world teaching skills. You’ll learn how to teach safely, creatively, and authentically, without being locked into a single “formula.” Just as importantly, you’ll be supported by experienced teachers who care about your growth both on and off the mat.
Is this training approved by Yoga Alliance?
Yes. Charlotte Yoga is a Registered Yoga School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance. Graduates of our program are eligible to register as RYT 200 upon completion.
Do you offer financial support or payment plans?
Yes. We offer payment plans to help make training more accessible. We also offer a Teacher Training Scholarship for applicants who demonstrate financial need and a strong connection to the Charlotte Yoga community. Full details and application information are available on our scholarship page.
Will I only learn how to teach one set sequence?
No. While you will learn foundational structures and intelligent sequencing principles, this training emphasizes adaptability, creativity, and intention. You’ll gain the tools to build your own classes and learn set sequences, allowing you to teach different class styles, levels, and room energies with confidence.
Will I be able to teach at studios other than Charlotte Yoga?
Absolutely. This training is designed to prepare you to teach anywhere, not just at Charlotte Yoga. You’ll graduate with a solid understanding of cueing, sequencing, anatomy, and class management that translates well across studios and teaching environments.
What if I miss a session? Am I able to make it up at a later date?
Attendance is important, as each weekend builds on the last. If you need to miss a session due to an emergency, we’ll work with you on a case-by-case basis to determine appropriate makeup options. These could include written assignments, observation hours, or attending a future training session if available.
Do I have to be an advanced student to take the training?
Not at all. You do not need to be able to do advanced poses to enroll. What is important is that you have a consistent yoga practice, a willingness to learn, and an openness to feedback and growth.
I don’t want to teach. Can I still sign up for this training?
Yes. Many students join teacher training to deepen their personal practice, expand their knowledge of yoga, or better understand their bodies. Teaching is not required after graduation, and this training can be a powerful personal and transformational experience even if you never plan to lead a class.
How much time outside of weekends should I expect to commit?
In addition to training weekends, expect time for reading, written assignments, practice teaching, observation hours, and personal practice. Most trainees spend a few hours per week outside of scheduled sessions.
Will I be teaching during the training?
Yes. You’ll have opportunities to practice teaching in a supportive environment, receive feedback, and build confidence before graduating.
What styles of yoga does this training focus on?
Our 200-hour yoga teacher training is rooted in intelligent, alignment-based vinyasa and power yoga, with an emphasis on safe movement, breath, and mindful progression. Concepts taught can be applied across many class styles.
What is the difference between a workshop or masterclass and a regular class?
Workshops and masterclasses offer a deeper dive into a specific topic, skill set, or experience than a standard class. They often include extended time, detailed instruction, hands-on guidance, or guest teachers, and are designed to support learning, exploration, and growth beyond a typical class format.
Are workshops included in my membership?
No. While memberships cover regularly scheduled classes, workshops and masterclasses require additional planning, longer time blocks, and involve specialized content. Pricing helps us fairly compensate instructors and continue to offer high-quality, intentional experiences.
Do members receive a discount on workshops?
Yes. Members receive a 15% discount on workshops and masterclasses. The discount is automatically applied at checkout when you register.
Do I need to be a member to attend a workshop?
No! Anyone is welcome to attend our workshops and masterclasses.
Do workshops count as a regular class on my class package?
No. Workshops and masterclasses are priced separately and do not count as a regular class on class packages or memberships.
What is your cancellation and refund policy for workshops?
Refunds are available up to two weeks prior to the workshop date. Cancellations made within two weeks of the event are non-refundable. This policy allows us to properly plan, staff, and prepare for each workshop.
Can I transfer my workshop registration to someone else?
In most cases, yes. Please email info@charlotteyoga.com in advance with the name and contact information of the person attending in your place.
What happens if Charlotte Yoga cancels a workshop?
If a workshop is canceled by Charlotte Yoga, you will receive a full refund or the option to apply your credit toward a future workshop.
Are workshops appropriate for beginners?
Many workshops are beginner-friendly, while others may be geared toward specific experience levels or physical abilities. Please refer to the workshop description for details, or reach out to us if you’re unsure whether a particular workshop is a good fit.
How early should I arrive for a workshop?
We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to get settled, especially since workshops start promptly and may include opening discussions or introductions.
What should I bring to a workshop?
Most workshops require the same items as regular classes: a yoga mat, water, and any towels you prefer. If additional props or materials are needed, this will be noted in the workshop description.
Are workshops heated?
This varies by workshop. Temperature details will be listed on the event page so you know what to expect.
Can I use a guest pass or free class credit for a workshop?
No. Guest passes, free classes, and complimentary credits cannot be applied toward workshops or specialty classes.
Will workshops sell out?
Yes, some workshops do reach capacity. We recommend registering in advance to guarantee your spot.
