“Tight” hips and hamstrings are a common complaint among yoga students. This workshop is designed to help you understand why being able to do a split isn’t the end all be all of a yoga practice and how to stretch AND strengthen these muscles to support a powerful yoga practice.
We will explore how to cultivate a greater range of motion and strengthen both the hips and hamstrings, which will also help to alleviate back pain. For hips, we will go over the anatomy of the hip and asanas to progressively open the different parts of the hip. For hamstrings, you will learn how to safely stretch and forward fold so as not to compromise the low back or hamstring attachments.
