Kacy Pleasants - Yoga Instructor
I entered the door of yoga to find yet another way to exercise, and lose weight. It wasn’t long before I realized it was so much more than that. I could let go of my destructive over-ambition and settle in to a practice that kept my body healthy while allowing myself to relax in to the beauty that is my life. I believe we are given hardships so that we can have compassion and help others who struggle with similar things.
I struggle with anxiety, and yoga has helped me to just let go. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in November of 2011, and yoga helped me to stay focused on my breath and my recovery. I am now in remission and I truly feel that yoga is part of that recovery.
I have been practicing yoga since 2007, and teaching since 2010. I am still amazed and inspired by the power of the practice. I feel that it is a vehicle for self-discovery, and a journey that teaches us to connect with our breath but also to one another on a deeper level.
When I teach, I try to create a space in my classes for students to gain a deeper understanding of a pose and of themselves. My classes are both physically and mentally challenging, but are taught with a lightness and humor that almost allow you to forget you are working so hard.
