Tarra Ashton- Yoga Instructor
Tarra's yoga journey began in Columbia, SC in 2011 during a college course at USC, where she learned about the history and foundation of the practice. When a new hot yoga studio came to town, she was one of their very first clients and quickly became hooked. As an athlete and a runner, she found that yoga helped alleviate her chronic back pain, while increasing her range of motion through strength and flexibility.
Tarra soon set a goal that she would start saving and begin teacher training within 2 years of graduating college and 18 months later was enrolled. To this day, it was the best decision she ever made for herself and is forever grateful for the path that led her on this yoga journey at a young age. During training, she tried a class at Charlotte Yoga, and from the sense of community to the vibe at the studio, she instantly felt a connection. In 2015, she completed her 200 RYT Training with Grace Morales and was eager to start teaching at Charlotte Yoga as soon as possible!
Working full time in the fast-paced environment of corporate retail, she enjoys coming straight to her mat after a long day of work to calm the mind and sweat it out. She loves the challenge of new poses, but is also drawn to yoga for the invitation to slow down, be present and enjoy the journey of life rather than rushing to the destination. Tarra enjoys teaching for the ability to share her passion for yoga with others, and hopes to inspire her students in ways that so many teachers have done for her. Proud to be a Charlottean, she embraces the growing yoga community in the Queen City, and can be found on social media @QCyogi.foodie, leading a powerful, fast-paced hot vinyasa class at Charlotte Yoga or teaching at a brewery around town.
